FIREPROOFING

At G.C. Zarnas, safety and structural integrity are at the heart of our fireproofing services. Our Fireproofing Division provides both spray-applied and trowel-applied fireproofing solutions for industrial and commercial environments—protecting critical infrastructure and reducing risk to:

✔ Exposed structural steel surfaces
✔ Roof and floor assemblies
✔ Columns and joists
✔ Concrete surfaces

Spray vs. Trowel Applications

  • Spray-applied fireproofing involves coating construction materials with specialized products to improve fire resistance, reducing the risk of weakening, burning, or melting under extreme heat.
  • Trowel-applied fireproofing offers optimized safety and performance for areas requiring precision, mitigating downtime, damage, and injury risks.
We were the “fireproofing” contractor of choice for a new dormitory at one of the nation’s top research universities. We also applied intumescent fireproofing, plus low-density cementitious (spray-applied) fireproofing and high-density cementitious (trowel-applied) fireproofing and epoxy and general paint in The University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Basketball Arena, the largest stadium of its kind in VA!
